In the end, its really just a matter of what works for you, but for some people using an RSS/feed reader works better than just browsing the web. Below is a video that explains how to use google reader, a very popular feed reader and the one I use.

There are other RSS feed readers that can work just as well as Google reader. For the more technologically inclined students of a COMPUTER SCIENCE COURSE you can download Rainmeter or Rainleder and have RSS feeds directly on your desktop (with a little configuration and effort, but it's minimal, I assure you.)

I like Google Reader b/c of the ease of use and b/c I am in regular use of at least one desktop, a laptop, and a mobile device. All of which I use to check my RSS feeds.
Also, since I have an Android phone it makes compatibility super easy.
Yea, personally I almost always use Google Reader. And if a website doesn't have an RSS feed, Reader can make one for you. Google Wave is also great, and I've used it for everything from party planning to collaborative programming (which was a lot harder than I thought it would be!)
I was under the impression that Google Wave was abandoned by Google?
It is, but the service is available until the end of the year. Hopefully it, along with Google Lively, will be brought into google social network (which we all know they're working on! :D )
